The COWRIE VIP Sales Offering was launched
on Nelson Mandela Day, 18 July 2022.
It is also on this day on which COWRIE was deployed onto the blockchain, and marks a special moment for the COWRIE token and its holders for the next 27 years.
The COWRIE Utility Gifting token has been founded to uplift South Africans through the creation of regenerative economies using gifting.
During COVID the COBRA initiative was set up to support distressed businesses through shared value initiatives.
The AmaNdebele King approached COBRA to find out how he could help his people, and this is when the COWRIE was inceptualised.
The King was desperate to find a way to help the local community and COBRA explained that blockchain was the answer.
However, the main concerns of the project were –
- how does the COWRIE protect the local community from a big crypto fall ? and
- how does the COWRIE make sure that the benefit of the COWRIE goes into the hands of the local people in South Africa?

We embarked on an exploration to determine the needs, interests and concerns of all the local communities in South Africa.
The team founded a new way to safeguard the community whilst at the same time offer an opportunity to boost community initiatives, and so the Stay Safe Protection plan was brought into action.
The team established an Escrow for the VIP Sales Offering which is managed by Schindlers Attorneys and regulated in terms of an Escrow Agreement.

You will recall, the other concern of the COWRIE was to make sure that the benefit of the COWRIE goes into the hands of the people that need it the most in South Africa, namely the local communities and grass roots people.
THE VIP OFFERING is a key component of the COWRIE project, and uplifts local communities and people through various project initiatives via the funds raised through this stage.
